During the Korean War, a marine platoon, pinned down by the enemy and desperately out of ammunition, cheered as Reckless appeared through the gun smoke. The courageous horse would make 51 daily trips to the outpost [making him a Hero51!] in total carrying 9,000 pounds of artillery rounds, up steep inclines. In 2016, beloved Sgt Reckless was honored with a bronze statue in Camp Pendleton.
